Top 5: Best Winter Wiper Blades (Reviewed & Rated)

During the cold winter months, snow, slush, and even salt can cause an issue while you are driving. If you have used the same windshield wipers for the past six months or so, it is time to check them.

A few winter’s ago I did not realize how important having winter wiper blades was, and I found myself caught in a blizzards as I was driving down the interstate.

Thankfully, I was able to use my windshield washer fluid to melt the ice forming on my windshield and safely get to the side of the road and wait out the storm. I created this guide to help others get the crucial windshield wiper information that they need to stay safe this winter.

Top 5 Best Winter Wiper Blades

1. Bosch 24A ICON Wiper Blade

The first wiper on my list is the Bosch 24A Icon, which is a wiper that is advertised to clear your windshield consistently all year.

That means that the sun’s heat and the atmosphere during the hot summer months will not be as damaging to these blades, and it will also be a great option for clearing the snow and ice in the winter.

I actually have a set of icon wipers on my vehicle, and I can attest that they are great in the winter.

These wiper blades actually seem to last a lot longer than other wiper blades that I have used in the past, and according to Bosch, these blades have been proven to last about 40 percent longer than other premium blades on the market.

The blade and the bracket are both designed with a flexible blade that contours to the curve of your windshield. It has a weather shielding connector that keep snow and ice from building up inside the wiper bracket, and it also makes the wipers easy to install.

2. OEM QUALITY: AERO Premium Frameless Windshield Wiper Blades

Another brand of wipers that I recently tested out was the AERO Premium, which is another wiper that is designed to be used throughout the year instead of during a specific season.

These wipers are about the same price as the Bosch blades that we just looked at, but they come in a pair, so it is actually the more economical choice for you to select. The design of the blade spine is a flexible one that will hug your windshield evenly to prevent streaks.

The back of the blade features a covered design that keeps ice and snow from accumulating on the wiper, and the blade is a blended rubber that is designed to last longer on your vehicle.

As you drive in the rain with these wipers, you will notice that they are almost silent, so if you do hear a squeaking noise, you know it is time to get them replaced.

The best part about this set of wipers is that they come with a six month warranty, so if they do not hold up to your standards, you can send them back in exchange for a replacement set.

3. Valeo 60022 Series Wiper Blade, 22″

As I am sure you have noticed, I tend to find durable, all weather wiper blades a better option than those that have been designed for strictly winter use. The Valeo 60022 is a great option that performs well in both hot and cold weather.

The rubber blade is designed to be resistant to high heat, but also still be flexible during the winter months.

In addition, the blade is coated with a protective layer that is designed to resist UV rays, washer fluids, dirt, and scratches. This layer of protection is a great way to extend the life of the wiper.

The design of the frame is an open one, which is a little less convenient during times of heavy ice and snow, but the pin connectivity pushes the blade closer to the windshield to give you a full contact that will keep the windshield clear.

Valeo is dedicated to giving you optimal visibility when the conditions outside are less than perfect.

4. ANCO C-17-UB Contour Wiper Blade – 17″

Some vehicles have smaller windows, so you need to account for that when you are looking for new windshield wipers. In some situations a 17 inch wiper blade is designed for the passenger side of the vehicle only, so make sure you know what size wiper fits your vehicle.

The ANCO Contour Wiper Blade is designed as a single pieced unit with multiple pressure points that are flexible enough to give you great blade to windshield contact, which will improve your visibility greatly.

The rubber blade is thick and durable; in fact, it will never corrode in inclement weather or freeze when the temperature outside is frigid.

You will find that this wiper blade is extremely easy to install, as the blade features a Kwikconnect installation system and these blades remove all of the water on your windshield without making a sound.

5. Bosch 19B ICON Wiper Blade – 19″

Bosch is also going to be the fifth recommendation on my list, as they really do provide some of the best winter wiper blades.

The 19B Icon is a similar blade to the first Bosch blade, but it is designed to fit on smaller windows. These blades are designed with tension springs that are enclosed in the frame. These springs ensure that the blade remains flexible enough to touch all of the points of the windshield that need to be cleared.

The enclosure also provides a level of protection against ice and snow build up, which makes cleaning off your car in the winter a much quicker task.

As with the first model reviewed here, this wiper is designed with durable rubber that is resistant to excess heat and deterioration from the atmosphere, so you can expect the wiper to last a bit longer than the typical six month lifespan of a windshield wiper.

Conclusion

Driving in the winter can be dangerous if you do not have a set of good wiper blades to keep your windshield clear.

This list is designed to ensure that you do not end up in a situation like I did in the past that had me stopping by the side of a road in a blizzard because my wipers failed to clear away the ice that was forming on my windshield properly.
